About Us

We're the Climbing Mavericks, one of UTA's largest sport clubs. Our goal is to introduce students to the beautiful world of rock climbing. From socializing, to outdoor climbing, to competing against other schools, we strive to have something for everyone. Attendance at all events and practices is optional, so you decide how involved you want to be.

Dues for the Fall 2026 semester are $50. Included in your dues are a T-shirt, access to the climbing gyms during practice, all outdoor trips, and entry into competitions if you make the team.

Competitions

Each semester we go to different collegiate and community competitions around Texas and Oklahoma. Competitions usually have beginner, intermediate, and advanced categories, so everyone has the chance to win. Since we are limited in how many people we can take to competitions, we host tryouts to decide who we can take. Our goal is to get winners across all categories, so we encourage everyone to try out if they want to compete.

Outdoor Trips

We don't just climb indoors! Throughout the semester we go on several trips to different outdoor climbing spots. We typically aim for two day trips for bouldering, and one overnight trip for top-rope and lead climbing every semester.

Volunteering

Volunteering is the only thing we require of our members. It's how we get funding from the university and a way for us to give back to nature and our community at large. You can get all of your required hours through club sponsored events, or do it all yourself. The choice is yours!

Leadership

The club is run by a driven team of seven student officers who want to see the club at its best. Whether its planning trips, advocating for funding from the university, or giving members beta at practice, we want to see the club thrive for years to come. Don't be afraid to ask us questions wherever you see us!
